Neeraj Sets Sights on 2025 World Title

Neeraj Chopra, India’s golden boy of javelin throw, has set his sights on a podium finish at the 2025 World Championships. Despite a season marred by injuries, the two-time Olympic medalist remains undeterred and eager to reclaim his top form.

Chopra, who recently returned to India after a successful campaign that culminated in a silver medal at the Diamond League finale in Brussels, has made it clear that the upcoming World Championships are his primary focus. “The season is now over. Our biggest target for next year is the World Championship, and we will start preparing for it immediately,” he stated.

The 26-year-old Haryana-native has been a beacon of hope for Indian athletics, becoming the first Indian track-and-field athlete to win consecutive Olympic medals. His historic gold at the Tokyo Olympics and silver at the Paris Olympics have solidified his status as one of the world’s premier javelin throwers.

However, the road to Olympic glory has not been without its challenges. Chopra battled an adductor muscle niggle throughout the year, which significantly impacted his performance at both the Olympics and the Diamond League finale. Additionally, he competed with a fractured left hand, showcasing his resilience and determination.

Despite these setbacks, Chopra remains optimistic about his prospects for the upcoming season. He has expressed his commitment to regaining full fitness and improving his technique. With the support of his coaching staff and the unwavering encouragement of his fans, Chopra is confident that he can achieve his goal of a World Championship podium finish.

The 2025 World Championships, scheduled to take place from September 13 to 21, will be a crucial test for Chopra. It will be an opportunity for him to showcase his talent on the world stage and cement his legacy as one of India’s greatest athletes.
