Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line Set to Launch in December: 8 Trains with 15-Minute Intervals

Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line to Launch in December

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) announced that Bengaluru’s Yellow Line will open by the end of this year, as reported by the Deccan Herald. This line will have at least eight trains running every 15 minutes, an improvement from the previous plan of six to seven trains with 20-minute intervals.

The Yellow Line, costing ₹5,745 crore, extends 19.15 kilometers from RV Road to Bommasandra and includes 16 stations. Key stops are Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City. Jayadeva Hospital will be an interchange hub and India’s tallest metro station at 39 meters, featuring six levels including an underpass, road, flyover, Yellow Line platform, concourse, and Pink Line platform.

Full-scale trial operations began on June 13 with a prototype six-coach train imported from China. These trials, including safety tests, are expected to finish by September or October. If enough trains are available, commercial services will start in December.
