Earlier this week, wildlife officials in Agumbe, Karnataka, carried out a dramatic rescue of a 12-foot King Cobra and safely returned it to the forest. Ajay Giri, the field director at Agumbe Rainforest Research Station (ARRS), recorded the thrilling rescue on video and shared it on Instagram.
Giri explained in his post that the King Cobra was initially seen crossing a main road. Disturbed by onlookers, the snake took refuge in a bush inside a house compound. Concerned, the house owner and neighbors contacted the forest department, which then informed ARRS about the situation.
The gripping footage gained significant attention on Instagram.
The event began when locals noticed the large snake slithering across a busy road. Giri and his team instructed locals on what to do and not do over the phone and hurried to the location. After inspecting the situation, they decided to safely bag the snake. The team also conducted an onsite awareness program for the locals, distributing informative materials. Finally, the King Cobra was released back into the wild in the presence of the locals and forest department officials.
