Dharambir Honors Amit Kumar with Paralympics Gold

Paris, France: In a remarkable display of strength, determination, and resilience, Dharambir, the Indian Paralympics gold medalist in men’s club throw F51, has etched his name in the annals of sports history. His victory, coupled with his heartfelt dedication to his teammate and coach, Amit Kumar Saroha, has resonated deeply with athletes and fans alike.  Dharambir’s journey to the Paralympic podium was a testament to his indomitable spirit. A tragic accident left him paralyzed from the waist down, but he refused to let adversity define his life. Instead, he embraced the challenge and discovered a new passion in para athletics. Under the guidance of Amit Kumar Saroha, a former national-level hockey player who himself faced the challenges of disability, Dharambir honed his skills and embarked on a path towards greatnessThe 2024 Paralympics marked a defining moment for Dharambir. Despite facing early setbacks in the men’s club throw F51 final, his unwavering determination and the unwavering support of his coach proved to be the catalysts for his success. With a powerful throw of 34.92 meters, Dharambir not only secured the gold medal but also broke the Asian record.

His teammate, Pranav Soorma, also brought glory to India by clinching the silver medal.

However, Dharambir’s triumph extended beyond his personal achievement. In a touching gesture, he dedicated his gold medal to Amit Kumar Saroha, acknowledging the pivotal role his coach played in his journey. “I am feeling very proud,” Dharambir said. “For any athlete, winning a medal at the Olympics (Paralympics) is a dream, and my dream has come true with this. My guide Amit Kumar Saroha has played a big role in it.

Dharambir’s hope is that his victory will inspire the next generation of para athletes to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams. “I hope the next generation (of athletes) will see us and get into this sport,” he added.

Amit Kumar Saroha, a veteran sportsperson himself, has been a constant source of inspiration and support for Dharambir. “I dedicate this award to my guru Amit Saroha,” Dharambir said. “His blessings are with me since the start, and that is why I was able to win this medal.Dharambir’s journey is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, human potential knows no bounds. His gold medal victory and his dedication to his coach are a testament to the power of perseverance, determination, and the unwavering support of those who believe in us.
