Indian Shooters Set for World Cup Final

New Delhi, India – The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has announced a formidable 23-member squad to represent the country at the upcoming International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Final Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun. The prestigious event is set to take place at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range (DKSSR) in New Delhi from October 13 to 18.

The Indian contingent boasts a stellar lineup, featuring nine members from the Paris 2024 Olympic team, which returned with three bronze medals. A total of 11 Olympians will be vying for the coveted title of the best shooter of the year alongside the world’s top sport shooting athletes across 12 individual Olympic events.

Kr. Sultan Singh, Secretary General of the NRAI, expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to deliver a strong performance. “We have a formidable squad of proven performers for the ISSF year-ender and look forward to a strong showing,” he said. “Expectations from the sport have reached new heights following the Paris Olympics, and I am sure our world-class shooters are excited and motivated to perform in front of their home fans.”

The ISSF has directly selected four Indian shooters based on their impressive ISSF rankings: Divyansh Singh Panwar (men’s 10m air rifle), Sonam Uttam Maskar (women’s 10m air rifle), Rhythm Sangwan (women’s 10m air pistol and 25m pistol), and Ganemat Sekhon (women’s skeet). The remaining shooters have secured their places in the squad through India’s domestic rankings, leveraging the host country quota.

The Indian team will be represented by seasoned shooters and Olympians, including the likes of Abhinav Bindra (men’s skeet) and Chain Singh (men’s 50m rifle 3 positions). Joining Bindra and Chain Singh are fellow Paris Olympians Arjun Babuta (men’s 10m air rifle), Arjun Singh Cheema (men’s 10m air pistol), Anish and Vijayveer Sidhu (men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol), Shreyasi Singh and Rajeshwari Kumari (women’s trap), Maheshwari Chauhan (women’s skeet), and Anant Jeet Singh Naruka (men’s skeet). Rhythm Sangwan will be the lone shooter competing in two events.
