Chennai: The Nilgiris district administration have declared one-day holiday for schools in Gudalur and Pandalur areas on Wednesday in the wake of heavy rain in the areas.
“A holiday has been declared today in the schools Pandalur Gudalur in Nilgiris district due to heavy rains,” said the Nilgiris District Collector.

Orange Alert in Tamil Nadu Today
The India Meteorologial Depoartment (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal for today. The areas are likely to receive rainfall in the range of 64.5mm to 204.4mm today.Parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal are very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on June 26, as per IMD update. Parts of state have been witnessing rainfall for the past few days.
More Rain in Store for Chennai
Meanwhile, Chennai is likely to receive rain from Wednesday to Sunday. As per IMD’s seven-day forecast, the city is likely to witness partly cloudy skies with a possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorms, maintaining on Wednesday. The minimum temperature in the city will hover around 28 degrees Celsius while the maximum will settle at 36 degrees Celsius.
The city is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky with light rain on June 27 and 28 with the temperatures remaining consistent. On weekend, Chennai is anticipating rain events, continuing within the temperature range of 28 degrees Celsius to 36 degrees Celsius.
