India Advises Nationals in Bangladesh to Limit Travel and Movement Due to Violent Clashes

New Delhi: The Indian High Commission in Dhaka issued an advisory on Thursday for Indian nationals in Bangladesh amid ongoing violent clashes.

“The Indian community members and students residing in Bangladesh are advised to avoid travel and minimize their movement outside their living premises,” the statement read. This advisory follows nationwide clashes between thousands of protesters and members of the student wing of the ruling Awami League party.

Student protesters in Bangladesh have called for a nationwide shutdown of transportation and businesses starting from Thursday. This move aims to pressure Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to abolish the government’s job quota system. Earlier demonstrations this week escalated into violence, further worsening the situation in the country.
