Deadly Attacks in Jammu Highlight Pakistan’s Intentions

Pakistan has recently organized a series of deadly attacks in the Jammu region. By doing this, Pakistan wants to show that it should be involved in resolving the Kashmir issue. They also want to make it clear that the changes India made in Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019 are not final.

Pakistan’s anger towards India goes beyond the changes in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has accused India of carrying out “extra-judicial and extra-territorial” killings of Pakistani nationals on Pakistani soil, a charge that India denies.

Despite India’s denial, statements from senior BJP leaders before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections suggest that India may target those it considers hostile, even if they are in other countries. An article in ‘The Guardian’ on April 4, 2024, supported Pakistan’s claims. It reported that about 20 people have been killed by unknown gunmen in Pakistan since 2020. However, the report also mentioned that all those killed were known terrorists linked to banned terror groups and were wanted by India.
