Ottobock Dominates Paris 2024 Paralympics Gold Medal Count

For over three decades, Ottobock has been a cornerstone of Paralympic success, providing cutting-edge equipment and unwavering support to athletes worldwide. The 2024 Paris Paralympics showcased the company’s exceptional responsiveness and dedication, ensuring that every athlete had the tools they needed to compete at their best.

Nestled within the heart of the Paralympic Village, Ottobock’s technical center served as a lifeline for the 4,400 Para athletes participating in the Games. With a staggering 549 events on the schedule, the pressure was immense, but Ottobock’s team of 160 dedicated technicians remained undeterred. Their unwavering commitment ensured that every athlete and assistant received the highest level of support.

Over the course of 18 days, Ottobock’s experts performed an astonishing 2,700 repairs, ranging from wheelchair adjustments to complex prosthesis and orthosis modifications. The center was open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, providing athletes with a reliable and accessible solution to any equipment-related issues. By relieving athletes of the stress of technical concerns, Ottobock allowed them to focus on their performance and achieve their full potential.

Wheelchairs accounted for 55% of repairs, while prostheses, orthoses, and other equipment made up the remaining 45%. Ottobock’s expertise extended beyond the main workshop and polyclinic, as teams were deployed to 14 competition sites to establish smaller workshops and even a mobile repair service.

The company’s rapid response and exceptional service were instrumental in the success of the Paris 2024 Paralympics. By providing athletes with the tools and support they needed, Ottobock played a vital role in inspiring millions around the world and showcasing the incredible achievements of Para athletes.
